Beit Midrash: Pesah
From February to April 2025, the Neve Schechter Center for Contemporary Judaism and Art hosted the “Beit Midrash” program for artists — a joint initiative with the KakdelArt platform. The program explored the themes of Passover through the reading of classical and modern Jewish texts, philosophical and cultural discussions, and artistic interpretation of tradition. Participants — Russian-speaking immigrants, artists, and designers from various disciplines — gathered for weekly sessions to delve into topics such as freedom, memory, ritual, and the visual language of the Passover Haggadah.
At the end of the program, each participant created a final artwork reflecting their personal reinterpretation of the themes discussed. The resulting pieces spanned a wide range of media — from painting and photography to video art and object installations. These works emerged from a dialogue between the texts, cultural memory, and contemporary artistic language.
