A Gallery for Israeli & International Art
Curator: Shira Friedman
The exhibits at the Schechter Gallery are presented in connection with prominent events from the Jewish and Israeli calendars. The Schechter Gallery annually hosts five exhibits of contemporary Israeli and international art. The exhibits at the Schechter Gallery are unique in that their artistic interpretation employs Jewish textual sources from all periods in addition to general textual sources. The exhibits include paintings, sculptures, photographs, video art, and various displays.
Each exhibition provides an opportunity for the visual expression of an aspect of a holiday or specific date, but is not necessarily focused on subjects immediately associated with that holiday or date. The subjects of the exhibits and the works presented facilitate renewed readings of holidays, ceremonies, and accepted customs. The topics are selected from interpretations or texts related to the holidays
