The works included in this exhibition all center on the motif of the circle in terms of both form and content. The Hebrew title of the exhibition, Siba Umesovev (which literally means “cause and effect”) was chosen because of its linguistic link to the dreidel game and the Hanukkah holiday, hence the circles, rotations, and wheels displayed in the exhibition. This group exhibition focuses on circular themes in contemporary Israeli painting, sculpture, photography, and video art. Beyond dealing with movement and circles, the works of art in the exhibition create contexts and make statements about the essence of painting and art, the nature of the gaze, nationalism, the subjugation of nature, and the connections between the written word and the plastic arts.
